Program Delivery

Grade 8 Language
The Language program is delivered in six fifty-minute classes each week. The program consists of and will report on the following strands: Reading, Writing, Oral Communication, and Media Literacy. The expectation of the language curriculum will be met through a variety of independent and group activities while exploring short stories, literature circles, poetry, research, opinion pieces, and media studies. Dance and Drama are integrated into the Language Arts program.

Grade 7 and 8 Visual Arts
The Grade 7 and 8 Visual Arts programs are delivered four periods a week for one term. The programs are designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore the creative process using a range of mediums, styles, and techniques used throughout history. Through creative work and study, students will learn about the artistic traditions and history of their own and other cultures, develop their creative and critical thinking skills, as well as develop their ability to communicate thoughts and ideas through both verbal and non-verbal means. The Arts program also integrates I.T. skills providing students with an opportunity to learn “real world” computer-based skills in the arts.
